“[They said] I was starting to look quite ill and thin, that was probably the first time I was introduced to the concept of being too thin, I just couldn't really believe that would ever be me,” Sara remembers.
At 17, Sara was hospitalised with anorexia, an expertise she describes as exhausting, but in addition one thing on the time she didn’t suppose she wanted.
“I was pretty dissociated from the experience, I really didn't believe I should be in there and I felt like my control was being taken away,” Sara remembers.
“Towards the end of my time there I found it a tricky place to be because I was physically much better, but mentally I was still trying to grapple with how I felt about the weight I had gained.”

Each Sara and Ashley discovered assist and a robust sense of group in Move With Us, a well being and train program based by Rachel Dillon. Whereas trending diets usually contain restriction or elimination of meals teams (cough, keto), the MWU strategy is completely different, incorporating each complete and ‘soul’ meals into this system.
“We believe there are no ‘good’ or ‘bad’ foods. While nutritional makeup of different foods may vary, all of them can have a place in an effective nutrition protocol,” explains Dillon.
The truth that there isn’t any good or unhealthy meals within the MWU applications has helped each Sara and Ashley rework their relationship with meals, and in flip, themselves.
“Before MWU, I labelled foods as good and bad, and rarely indulged in bad foods. Once I learnt that I could eat whatever I want and fit it into my macro plan, I found it really liberating,” says Sara.
Ashley agrees.
“Gaining weight for me was extremely hard to deal with and an uncomfortable process. I think it's one of the hardest parts of recovery but also the most important if you want to get your health back,” she says, and in case you’re struggling, know that assistance is at all times obtainable.
“It took me being hospitalised to get help and I could have avoided that if I accepted what was going on, but I was in too much denial and disbelief,” she provides.
“Eating disorders don't look the same for everyone. You don't need to wait until you are ‘sick enough’ to seek help.”
